Insurance Coverage for Rhinoplasty

When you are looking to undergo a cosmetic surgery to correct a medical problem, then it is possible that your insurance carrier will cover part of, or a significant amount of the procedure. Of course, there are certain criteria that must exist before deeming an issue a medical necessity. Many people that suffer from impaired breathing, sleep apnea, and loss of energy due to lack of sleep because of these problems, may require a septoplasty procedure. Insurance coverage for rhinoplasty procedures may come into par when correcting these problems. A septoplasty is performed to correct a deviated septum. Often times this may be a result of a broken nose. Sometimes, a bump forms, or other nasal deformities due to the break, that may also call for medical intervention. It is important to discuss these aspects with your surgeon during your initial consultation, and check with your insurance provider to see what needs to be in place in order for them to contribute towards this procedure.
